泳いで遊ぶのもよし、眺めて過ごすのもよし、恩納村の海は魅力がいっぱい詰まっています。
今回は、スキンダイビングについても紹介しています。

Diamond Beach ダイヤモンドビーチ
沖縄恩納村にある天然のビーチ「ダイヤモンドビーチ」。
白い砂浜と岩壁に囲われ、澄み渡る海がまるで“ダイヤモンド”のように美しさしく、手つかずの天然ならではの隠れ家的な雰囲気を感じるビーチです。
自然いっぱいというエリアではありませんが、海の透明度は抜群！
海面は日に光をうけキラキラと輝き、ブルー色に広がる美しい海。
海中では、たくさんのサンゴや熱帯魚に出会うことができ、海底の細かな白砂は陽の光を浴びて美しく輝いています。
お魚だけでなく少し沖の方へいくとカメさんにも出会える素晴らしいビーチとなっています。

While the area isn’t teeming with wildlife, the transparency of the sea is exceptional!
The ocean surface glimmers under the sunlight, stretching out in a beautiful blue hue.
Beneath the waves, you’ll encounter plenty of coral and tropical fish, while the fine white sand on the seabed gleams brilliantly in the sunlight. Moreover, if you venture a little further out, you may even encounter some sea turtles, making it a fantastic beach experience not just for fish but also for meeting these marvelous creatures.

海水浴やマリンレジャーのための設備は整っていません。
人の手が入っていない「手つかず」の雰囲気こそがダイヤモンドビーチの魅力。
A natural beach located in the resort area of Onna Village in Okinawa. There are no facilities for swimming or marine leisure activities.
The untouched atmosphere, untouched by human hands, is the charm of Diamond Beach.
Diamond（ダイヤモンド）
澄み渡る海の美しさはまさに“ダイヤモンド”。
キラキラと輝く海面や砂浜には大きな岩が顔をのぞかせ、天然ビーチならでは野趣も感じられます。
海底からもその美しさを感じ取れます。
The beauty of the crystal-clear sea is truly like a “diamond”. Glistening sea surface and sandy beaches are adorned with large rocks, offering a unique charm unique to natural beaches.
You can also feel this beauty from the seabed.
Onna Sunset Beach Road（おんなサンセット海道）
恩納村の海沿い通りの海岸線。宇加地（うかじ）から名嘉真（なかま）を結ぶ県道6号線から国道58号の通りです。
エメラルドグリーンから紺碧へと変わる美しい海の景色を見ることができ、リゾートホテルや観光スポットが多く点在。
お菓子御殿やナカユクイ展望台（無料の駐車スペースあり）の通りのためダイヤモンドビーチへのアクセスが可能です。
This is the coastline along the seaside street in Onna Village. It runs from Uka-ji to Nakama, connecting Prefectural Route 6 to National Route 58.
You can admire the beautiful scenery of the sea changing from emerald green to deep blue, with numerous resort hotels and tourist spots dotted along the coastline.
Access to Diamond Beach is possible via the street of Okashi Goten and Nakayukui Observatory (with free parking space available).
How to spend time | 過ごし方
ダイヤモンドビーチは海水浴場用としての設備がありません。
泳ぐためだけにくる必要はなく、海を眺めに来るだけでも十分楽しめる場所です。
もちろん泳いでもOK♡その際はぜひシュノーケルマスクをつけてお魚をのぞいてみて下さい。
またここは、数多くのダイバーショップでもスキンダイビングやスキューバダイビングのスポットとして選ばれているのでダイビングをチャレンジしてみたり、朝ヨガなどのツアーに参加してみるのもおすすめです。
※アクティビティのできる場所ではないのでそこは予めご了承ください。
泳がない方も隣接しているカフェやお菓子御殿などでゆっくり過ごすして散歩を楽しむのも良いでしょう。
時間に縛られることなく簡単に来れるのも魅力なので、好きな時間で自由に楽しんでみてください。
Diamond Beach does not have facilities specifically for swimming, but it is a place where you can enjoy simply gazing at the sea without the need to swim. Of course, swimming is also permitted! If you decide to take a dip, be sure to wear a snorkel mask and peek at the fish beneath the surface.
Moreover, this spot is chosen by many diving shops for skin diving and scuba diving, so it’s worth considering trying diving or joining tours like morning yoga. However, please note that it’s not a designated activity area, so please keep that in mind.
For those who prefer not to swim, spending a leisurely time at nearby cafes or sweet shops, or enjoying a stroll, is also a good option.
One of the charms of Diamond Beach is its easy accessibility without being tied to a schedule, so feel free to enjoy it at your leisure, whenever you like.

When grabbing onto corals or rocks, I always make sure to check with a professional diver before touching.
Swimming with sea turtles.｜ウミガメと一緒に泳げます♡
丁度この真下に、カメさんのクリーンステーションの岩があり、お魚さんたちがカメさんの体を洗っていました。
Right below this spot, there was a rock serving as the cleaning station for turtles, where fish were cleaning the turtle’s body.

About Marine Creatures | 海の生き物
ナカユクイの海の生き物たち。
リュウキュウキッカサンゴや沖縄本島ではなかなか見ることができないユビエダハマサンゴの群生をここで見ることができます。
熱帯魚としては、ハナビラクマノミやカクレクマノミ、ハマクマノミなどのクマノミ達に♡。
また、砂地で珍しいトウアカウマノミのコロニーが点在していることでも有名です。
他にも、ヒレナガネジリンボウやヤシャハゼなどのハゼ類、カエルアンコウ、ヘラヤガラ、ムレハタタテダイ、ヨスジフエダイ、ヨメヒメジなどが確認できており、魚の種類が豊富なため、きれいな熱帯魚と戯れるには最適な場所とダイバーさんたちにも人気のエリアです。
ナカユクイは、比較的穏やかな海なので、コブシメの産卵スポットにもなっていて冬の時期は交接や産卵が行われます。
サンゴの間に半透明の卵を見つけることができたり、運が良いと産卵シーンを目撃することができたりもします。
他にも、ウミガメやトビエイなどに出会え、今回私はカメさんに出会えることができました。
Creatures of the calm Nakayukui Sea.
Here, you can witness colonies of the Ryukyu coral and the rare Yubieda Hamasan coral, which are hardly found in Okinawa Main Island.
As for tropical fish, there’s a variety of anemonefish such as Hanabirakumanomi, Kakurekumanomi, and Hamakumanomi, each adorned with their own charm.
Additionally, it’s famous for scattered colonies of the rare Twinspot Cardinalfish in sandy areas.
Furthermore, one can spot various species like gobies such as Hirenaganejirinbou and Yasyahaze, frogfish, humpback snappers, stripey sweeper, lemon damselfish, and blue-eyed damsels, making it a popular area for divers due to its rich diversity of fish species, perfect for interacting with beautiful tropical fish.
Nakayukui boasts relatively tranquil waters, making it a spawning ground for sergeant majors during winter, where mating and spawning take place.
It’s possible to discover translucent eggs amidst the corals, and with luck, witness the spawning scene.
Moreover, encounters with sea turtles and eagle rays are possible, and this time, I was fortunate enough to encounter a turtle.

「阿檀」と書きアダンと読みます。
草に分類される『パイナップル』見た目がパイナップルに似ていることでも有名です。
葉にはトゲがあり、夏になると甘い香りを放ち橙色の果実をつけます。
マングローブに生息するヤシガニの大好物で、タコノキ科タコノキ属の常緑小高木。
亜熱帯から熱帯地域の海岸近くに生息し、成長すると茎から木根が地面に伸びて風で倒れないように体を支えています。
沖縄では古くからアダンの葉を煮て乾燥させ、繊維をゴザやかごに加工して利用されてきています。
また、八重山地方では、アダンの新芽を湯がいてあく抜きし、煮物や炒め物として食べられることもあります。
ただ、果実は繊維質で細かいトゲを持っているため、食べるとこはできません。
ちなみにパイナップルとは別物です。パイナップルはパイナップル科アナナス属の多年草。
アダンは「木」、パイナップルは「草」として分類されています。
The tree often seen on the beaches of Okinawa is called “Adan”.
written as 阿檀 and pronounced as “Adan.”
It belongs to the Pandanus genus and is known for its resemblance to pineapples.
It’s classified as a grass and during summer, it produces orange-colored fruits with a sweet fragrance, while its leaves are spiked.
Adan trees are evergreen shrubs of the screw pine family Pandanaceae.
They thrive in subtropical to tropical coastal regions, using aerial roots to support themselves against wind by extending from their stems into the ground.
In Okinawa, Adan leaves have been traditionally boiled and dried, with the fibers processed into mats or baskets. In the Yaeyama region, young Adan shoots are sometimes boiled to remove bitterness and consumed in dishes like stir-fries.
However, due to their fibrous nature and small thorns, the fruits are inedible.
It’s worth noting that Adan and pineapples are distinct.
Pineapples belong to the Bromeliaceae family, Ananas genus, and are classified as perennial herbs, whereas Adan is categorized as a tree and pineapple as a grass.
那覇空港から車で1時間ほどの位置にある恩納村。
国内外から年間350万人が訪れるという人気の観光エリアで、海沿いにはリゾートホテルが並び万座毛（まんざもう）や真栄田岬（まえだみさき）などの観光スポットが多く存在します。
マリンスポーツやシュノーケリングやダイビング、リゾートウエディング、ビーチのフォトウエディングも人気です。
真栄田岬にある「青の洞窟」と呼ばれるスポットは、県内でも屈指のシュノーケリング、ダイビングスポットとして知られ、洞窟内部の海面が太陽光線の反射で青く輝き、その神秘的な世界を楽しむこともできます。
Located about an hour’s drive from Naha Airport.
Onna Village is a popular tourist area that attracts around 3.5 million visitors annually from both domestic and international destinations.
Along the coast, there are numerous resort hotels, and there are many tourist spots such as Manzamo and Maeda Misaki.
Marine sports, snorkeling, diving, resort weddings, and beach photo weddings are also popular activities.
The spot known as the “Blue Cave” at Maeda Misaki is one of the premier snorkeling and diving spots in the prefecture.
The sea inside the cave shines blue due to the reflection of sunlight, allowing visitors to enjoy its mystical world.
恩納村では、海に潜らなくてもできるマリンアクティビティも豊富♪
浜釣り、船釣り、海人（沖縄の方言で「漁師」）や海辺の生物を観察するツアーもあるみたいです。
In Onna Village, there are plenty of marine activities available even without diving into the sea!
There are activities such as shore fishing, boat fishing, tours for observing sea people (fishermen in the Okinawan dialect), and coastal wildlife.

岩場や珊瑚でできたビーチではマリンシューズが必須アイテム！ 私のはピンクのラインが入ったマリンシューズです♪ 砂場のビーチではサンダルですが、海に入る際はこちらに履き替えます。自分の足を守るだけでなく、沖縄のサンゴ礁を傷つけない為にも履くようにしましょう！
At rocky or coral beaches, marine shoes are a must-have item! Mine has pink stripes on them. While sandals are fine on sandy beaches, I switch to these shoes when entering the sea. Not only do they protect my feet, but they also help preserve Okinawa’s coral reefs by avoiding any damage.
snorkeling mask | シュノーケルマスク
せっかくならシュノーケルをして綺麗な珊瑚とお魚に出会いましょう。塩水は目に入るととても痛いので海を入る際はマスクが必須です。マスクは曇り止めをしてこまめにして状態を良くしておきましょう。
Why not enjoy snorkeling to encounter beautiful corals and fish? Since saltwater in the eyes can be quite painful, wearing a mask is essential when entering the sea. Keep the mask defogged regularly to ensure clear visibility.

立ち泳ぎだけでは物足りないならフィンをつけて泳いでみて♪深い海でも浅い海でも、フィンがあればスムーズに潜ることができます。特にここハナリ島海域は初心者にも嬉しい浅瀬で美しい珊瑚やお魚に簡単に触れることができます。
If you find just treading water isn’t enough excitement, try swimming with fins! Whether in deep or shallow waters, fins allow for smooth diving. Especially in the Hanari Island area, with its beginner-friendly shallow depths, you can easily explore and interact with beautiful corals and fish.
お魚さんに餌をあげるのにパンをチョイスしている方がいますが、お麩をおすすめします。パンだとボロボロパラパラと散ってしまうのであまり食べれないようですが、沖縄のお麩は少し硬めなので崩れにくく移動時に濡れても散らばることがありません。
あと、あげる時にはお魚さんに合わせて小さく小さくちぎって撒いてくださいね。たくさんのお魚さんが寄ってきますよ♡
Some people choose bread to feed the fish, but I recommend using Okinawan Okara (tofu refuse) instead. Bread tends to crumble into small pieces, making it challenging for the fish to eat. On the other hand, Okinawan Okara is a bit firmer, making it less likely to break apart even when wet or transported. When offering the feed, tear the Okara into small, bite-sized pieces that suit the fish. You’ll attract many fish this way!

フライト：本州（各国）→ 那覇国際空港（Naha airport） →
車（レンタカー）：なかゆくい ダイヤモンドビーチ
那覇空港より国道58号を北上。
沖縄自動車道利用の場合、石川ICあるいは屋嘉ICを利用して約１時間程度。
路線バス：那覇空港、旭橋駅前（旧那覇バスターミナル）より名護西空港線（120番）、名護西線（20番）恩納村役場前。
1. 恩納村の海沿い通り「おんなサンセット海道」を走ると現れてくる沖縄で有名なお菓子屋さん「御菓子御殿 恩納村店」。
2. お店横からがビーチへの入り口となります。
3. 入り口の階段を降りていくと、覆われた木にぶつかり左右へ別れる道（どちらでもOK）を歩いていくと、岩と白砂の綺麗なビーチが現れてきます。
Flight: From mainland Japan (or other countries) to Naha International Airport.
By car (rental car): Navigate to Nakayukui Diamond Beach.
From Naha Airport, head north on National Route 58.If using the Okinawa Expressway, it takes about 1 hour using the Ishikawa IC or Yaka IC.
By bus: Take the Nago West Airport Line (No. 120) or Nago West Line (No. 20) from Naha Airport or Asahibashi Station (formerly Naha Bus Terminal) to Onna Village Office.
1. Along the coastal road of Onna Village, you’ll come across the famous Okinawan confectionery shop “Okinawa Gashi Goten Onna Village Branch”.
2. The entrance to the beach is next to the shop.
3. Descend the stairs at the entrance, then walk along the path (either direction is fine) lined with covered trees until you reach a beautiful beach with rocks and white sand.

シャワーや更衣室、海水浴場としての施設はありません。
クラゲ対策ネットや監視員はいない天然ビーチのため自己責任でご注意・対策をとって下さい。
Facilities:
There are no showers, changing rooms, or designated swimming areas at this beach.
As it is a natural beach without jellyfish prevention nets or lifeguards, please take personal responsibility and exercise caution by taking appropriate measures.
駐車について
ダイヤモンドビーチには専用の駐車場やビーチへ続く公道がありません。
ビーチへ用の方はナカユクイ展望台の無料駐車場や、近隣の飲食店に許可を得たりダイビングショップを利用。
※御菓子御殿駐車場からビーチへ入りますが、ビーチへご用の方は御菓子御殿駐車場のご利用は避けてください。
Parking Information:
There are no dedicated parking lots or public roads leading directly to Diamond Beach.
For beach access, visitors can use the free parking lot at Nakayukui Observatory or obtain permission from nearby restaurants or diving shops.
※While access to the beach is available from the parking lot of Okinawa Gashi Goten, those heading directly to the beach are advised to avoid using the Okinawa Gashi Goten parking lot.

日本なのに、どこか異国の雰囲気が漂う沖縄。
南アジアなどに最も近い距離にある日本の南の玄関です。
南西諸島の島々、沖縄本島、宮古島、石垣島、 西表島の4つの大きな島と約160の小さな島で構成され、どの島らかも美しく綺麗な海を見渡せます。
国土面積は2,281㎢で、日本最南端の地域を含む全国で4番目に小さい県。
年平均気温 23.1°Cと一年を通し温暖ですが、夏から秋には熱帯低気圧の通過路となって毎年数個の台風が襲来します。
Despite being a part of Japan, Okinawa exudes an exotic atmosphere, akin to countries in Southeast Asia. It serves as Japan’s southern gateway, being closest to regions like Southeast Asia. Comprising the Southwest Islands, including Okinawa Main Island, Miyako Island, Ishigaki Island, and Iriomote Island, along with approximately 160 smaller islands, each offering breathtakingly beautiful seascape views. With a total land area of 2,281 square kilometers, it’s the fourth smallest prefecture in Japan, encompassing the southernmost region of the country. The average annual temperature is 23.1°C, maintaining a warm climate throughout the year. However, during summer and autumn, it becomes a pathway for tropical cyclones, resulting in several typhoons annually.”
かつて沖縄は、琉球王国という独立国家でした。1429年以後約450年間琉球王朝の時代が続き、1875年（明治8年）の廃藩置県により、1879年に「沖縄県」となり、その後、1945年（昭和20年）から1972年（昭和47年）までの約27年間、沖縄はアメリカの統治下におかれていました。当時の通貨は円ではなくドル、車も左ハンドルで右側走行が基本とされ、沖縄から本土へ渡る際にはパスポートと渡航証明書が必要でした。そして、1972年（昭和47年）5月15日の沖縄返還（正式名称：琉球諸島及び大東諸島に関する日本国とアメリカ合衆国との間の協定）によって日本に復帰。
Once, Okinawa was an independent country known as the Ryukyu Kingdom. It endured the era of the Ryukyu Dynasty for approximately 450 years from around 1429 until the abolition of feudal domains in 1875 (Meiji 8), when it became ‘Okinawa Prefecture’ in 1879. Subsequently, for approximately 27 years from 1945 (Showa 20) to 1972 (Showa 47), Okinawa was under American governance. During this period, the currency used was not the yen but the dollar, and cars were left-hand drive, with right-hand traffic as the norm. Passport and travel documents were necessary for travel between Okinawa and mainland Japan. Finally, on May 15, 1972, through the ‘Agreement between Japan and the United States of America concerning the Ryukyu Islands and the Daito Islands,’ Okinawa was returned to Japan, marking its restoration.
